HOT DAMN!!!!!! What an unbelievably fantastical night at Jester's Pub!!!! That was my first time there and I must say, its a pretty cool place! Seriously though, you probably know how long I have been listening to As Summer Dies and how long I have been dying to see them live (if you don't, you obviously don't ever listen to me!)!! Well that night FINALLY happened...and let me tell you, they were sooo amazing live!!! Not that I expected anything less. I have had friends see them before and tell me how great they are but they exceded my expectations by far!!! They were nothing short of mind blowing. Adam's vocals are every bit as sexy live as they are in the studio, if you can believe that!!! Angel is so full of postive energy, you can't help but smile when you see her...and trust me, she takes every bit of that energy onstage with her! You should see her play!!!! And Jay is a wicked guitar player...I can seriously watch him play for hours...he's amazing. Rob too....wow, I have never seen a keyboardist make love to his keyboard like Rob does. Its so great to see him get into the music like that! And Rick may seem all laid back and quiet at first look, but he can wack the hell out of those drums. He's one intense and phenomenal player.
They had a killer setlist too...played a nice mix of old and new songs. They opened with Skylight to Sorrow, which I almost missed!!! We were running late and arrived at 8pm just as the show was supposed to start. As I was getting ID'd at the door, I heard them playing the first few notes and I quickly finished up and ran (literally) as fast as I could to the stage. Whew!!!! Unfortunately, due to the band rotations, they played first and there weren't a whole lot of people there yet (which was good for me because I had no problem getting to the front). But those that were there, really seemed to enjoy their show and I'm sure they got a ton of new friend requests on myspace every night of the tour! In the meantime, I was determined to represent for one of my favorite bands by jumping up and down and screaming and singing with my hands in the air like a lunatic. But hey, at least they know I love them and was excited to see them play! I already knew Angel and Jay from myspace so they recognized me right away and waved. Before the end of the show, I'm pretty sure the rest of the band knew I existed too! lol. :O) Just for the record, they also played (in no particular order) Zombies Are Scumbags, Sincerely, Trainwreck, Close Your Eyes, Murder Me Monday, and a new song that hasn't exactly been named yet...but it kicked ass!!! I am hoping next time I see them, they will be headlining and will have a much longer set!!!
After the show, Angel came to the edge of the stage and gave me her pick (thanks love...you rock!!!) then we all met up at the merch booth for a proper introduction! We had a blast....they are seriously some of the most amazing people I have ever met. They were all so sweet and funny and we just had a really good time drinking and exchanging silly stories. Thank you guys for giving me one of the most fun concert nights ever!!!!!
As for the rest of the show, it pretty much kicked ass! Marazene and Dragon Fire aren't exactly my taste in music but both put on a very good show. Psyclon Nine I have heard before and love...and their live performance was mesmerizing!!!! If they ever come back to NC again, I will definitely be there to see them. And Mushroomhead....wow!!! I have never been all that into their music before but they were unbelievable live!!!! I am ready to go out and buy all their cd's now! They were insane!! From the water drums to their magnetic stage presence and everything in between, they really know how to put on a good show. I would definitely go see them again too!!!
