Pictures from the Chevelle / 30 Seconds to Mars / Taproot Concert on 8/5/05

I knew this was going to be an amazing concert. I only wish I had some live pictures to share but unfortunately this show was at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach. The bad thing about the House of Blues is they have an extremely strict NO CAMERA policy inside. So even though I was sneaky enough to get one inside, I couldn't use it because security was everywhere! The good thing about the House of Blues though is the bands almost always come outside afterwards to take pictures. So don't worry, I will still have some of those to share!!

This was the first time I have ever seen 30 Seconds to Mars and it was every bit as enthralling as I thought it would be! Jared, Shannon, Matt, and Tomo are magnetic. They sounds just as good live as they do in the studio. The only downside was that I saw them about 3 weeks before "A Beautiful Lie" was released so I didn't know any of the new songs and really can't tell you what they sang. But of course, they kicked ass just the same!!! I do know they sang "Attack", "A Beautiful Lie" and I'm pretty sure "The Fantasy" but that's about all I recognized from the new album. Someone told me they played "Battle of One" though! And I don't know if my brain was fried from all the excitement or if they really had that short of a set but the only 2 songs I remember them playing from the first album were "Capricorn" and "Buddah for Mary" (which was so emotional it almost brought a tear to my eye!). Surprisingly enough, the crowd was pretty into them. They were the opening band so not a lot of people were there to see them but they werethe band was definitely welcomed. A great end to a great night was getting to meet all of 30 Seconds to Mars who signed my shirt and cd booklet. But of course, this was inside so no pictures!!! They were super nice though and I chatted with Matt and Shannon for a little while. And Shannon was cool enough to meet us outside after the show to take some pictures so he and all his awesomeness is below, first with me and then with my concert buddy, Kristin (who requested a funny face)!!

Taproot was actually pretty good too. I don't normally listen to them but they put on a pretty impressive show from what I saw. And the crowd was nuts over them, screaming and moshing!!! I did miss alot of the set though while I was at the merch booth with 30 Seconds to Mars! But I will say Taproot's singer is psychotic! He actually climbed up to the 2nd floor balcony and jumped into the pit!! Now that takes f*cking balls!!! So yeah, they were entertaining to say the least! I'd fill you in on their set list but I have no idea what they sang, except for the only two songs I do know by them - "Poem" and "Calling". And below are our pictures with Phil (the bassist).

Now this would be the 3rd or 4th time I have seen Chevelle but I never tire of them - they are definitely on my list of bands to see repeatedly! They kick so much ass, I can't even tell you. The lead singer, Pete, was so sick at this show but that didn't stop him! He was all over the place as usual, working the crowd, and singing his ass off. He nailed every note in every song which is why I never tire of them....they sound great live. And the bass player, Joe, had recently left the band so Geno, from Filter filled in for him and you'd never know he was a fill in. The chemistry between the 3 guys was great and every song sounded perfect. The crowd was nuts over them. I'm actually kind of glad we weren't in the pit by this time (we left after 30STM and didn't bother trying to get up front). We've seen Chevelle from the front row at every other concert so this time we decided to hang out upstairs at the bar! We met a lot of cool people and just basically had a great time chilling and listening to the music. Again, fried brain that night so I'm not sure if I remember all the songs but I know they sang Comfortable Liar, Send the Pain Below, The Red, The Clincher, Get Some, Vitamin R, Still Running, Wonder What's Next, Breach Birth, Grab Thy Hand, Another Know It All, Emotional Drought and Closure. There may have been another song or two but if there were, I can't think of them...sorry!! Below are pics with Sam (the drummer) and Geno (the temporary but kick ass bassist).
