Last Night By: Devin Cade
Last night is over and done, It was all it had to be, It shined, it glittered, it was fun. Then she leaned over, and asked me if she could begin to care. If she could entrust me with her heart, To build "a love" to share. A questions with no easy reply, and from the time it took to answer; I noticed a tear fall from her eye. From a tear to weep, she began expressing all the things in her life, Things she could never keep. I wanted to hold her, and say "maybe someday we’d give it a try," Yet her and I both knew, that’d be a lie. The obvious now is; "Want and need has crossed again," And sadly now enough, All I "wanted" was just a friend. But that’s not exactly what she needed, and it painfully began to show. With a pride not exactly in tact, I figured it would be better, If I just go.
