The Someday Star By: Devin Cade At the sunset of summer, I sat all alone, In a garden of roses, on a smooth flat stone. "One rose," I said, "For those dead and gone. And yet another," I said "For those to carry on." And all the stars, Particularly one, hanging brightly above, Sang a somber melody, It sang a song for love. And I questioned, "What good are hands, When hand to heart cannot feel? And what good are eyes, When all is estranged, and nothing seems real?" After a short silence, Rain began to fall, As if cleansing my emotions, And my obstacles didn’t feel so tall. What seemed miles away now isn’t so far, The day I dared to wish upon the Someday Star.Back to Devin's Poetry Index
