OK, if you are that lame and have not checked out this band yet, you suck and to make yourself not suck so much, you need to go check them out right now. Stop fucking around on my site and go to theirs (its better, I promise) or Karl will hunt your ass down and eat your brains. OK, so maybe he won't go that far.....but seriously, go check out this band!!! Ummm, I mean like right now....I'll wait for you.....

Anyway, we (me, Kristin, and Robin) had the HUGE priviledge of seeing Suicide City again....this time at the Greene Street Club in Greensboro where they opened for Taking Back Sunday and Tokyo Rose (neither of which we watched....sorry!). I hate to even say they "opened" for anyone because they were easily the highlight of the show. And I'm not just saying that because I am biased....the crowds reaction told it all. Everyone loved them. They had the entire venue going nuts.....and supposedly the 3 of us and one other person were the only Suicide City fans there (yeah, Karl scoped out the line before the show). And the only reason there weren't more Suicide City fans is because the show sold out long before any of us Suicide City fans found out about it....we actually had to get our tickets on ebay! So if a band can get a bunch of people that have no idea who they are screaming and pounding their fists in the air, then they've got more stage presence than most bands out there!
So yeah, it was a sold out show...which was a big step up from the last time we saw them! We knew it was going to be packed so we planned on getting there several hours before the doors opened to be in the front of the line to get a spot right in front of the stage but that didn't happen (there were easily 50 people ahead of us but we still managed to get real close to the stage once inside). While waiting on line, Karl, AJ, Jennifer and Billy all came out and said hello and gave us hugs. Karl also pointed out that we should watch the ceiling before the show. Normally that would be a puzzling comment but coming from someone like Karl, it was not surprising! I got "mad props yo" (Karl's words...not mine!) for my Suicide City outfit...a small gesture to show my devotion because they are not only an awesome band but awesome people. I'm not normally that crafty but what can I say, they inspired me....and they complimented it all night which made it all the more worth while!!!
As for the show itself, it was of course, just as bad ass as the first time I saw them. They had every bit of their magnetic stage presence, unbelievably intense energy that only they can emit (and its impossible to capture in pictures!), and Jennifer didn't have a sore throat this time so we got to hear her sing...and she was great!!! Everyone got a glimpse of what a psycho Karl really is at the start of the set when the rest of the band walked onstage and Karl was nowhere to be found.....until we looked up at the ceiling where he climbed from a balcony onto the ceiling framework. Dangling what had to be 20-30 feet up in the air, hand over hand he made his way over the center of the stage. But he didn't stop there! Being the acrobat that he is, he swung his legs up and hung upside down yelling at the crowd, much to all of our amusement! When he was done being a monkey, he dropped down feet first and by some miracle, managed to do this without injury!! And that was the start of the insanity that is a Suicide City show....and one way to win over a crowd before the set even starts!
They only had a 30 minute set but they took advantage of every second they had onstage....they went from one song to another with no breaks in between so they managed to pound out 7 songs!! They opened with Diemonds, a riveting song that got everyone going and kept them wanting more. They also played Fuck Your Dreams (if you can listen to this song without going bollistic, then you must be a parapalegic!), Undone (my favorite....I just love the emotion of this song....and it really shows you just how good Karl's vocals really are), Give Me Your Pity (another get the fuck up and jump around song...totally awesome), Painted Horses (my other favorite.....this song gives me goosbumps), Burn (the most wicked Cure cover you will ever hear in your life), and Cutter (a thrilling, dark, and twisted song with an unbelievable energy....I had all intentions of video-taping this song but I just couldn't....I was too into it to sit still with a camera!). All throughout the set, they really connect with their fans, making constant eye contact while playing and frequently standing on the barricade to be right there slapping hands with everyone. AJ may be shy offstage but onstage, he's a lunatic. He is all over the place, jumping around, shredding that guitar and just totally getting into the show! Billy is the same way, and man can he play! He's also a kick ass backup vocalist / growler / screamer! And he still manages to find time to jump on the barricade and get in everyone's faces and make them go nuts! Jennifer is a mean bass player....and a sexy one at that!! And yes, she totally plays on that! You can expect her at any moment to be sensuously swinging her hips or licking her bass or locking eyes with you while she sings! She rocks!!! Danny may be behind the drums but he never unnoticed!!! He may not be up jumping around with the rest of them but he rocks just as hard and has every bit of their energy as well....and he's got the guns to prove it. Then there's Karl...the most entertaining and energetic lead vocalist I have ever seen in my life. But aside from his psycho stage antics, his vocals are amazing....beautifully melodic at times....and at other times, completely insane, hardcore, and exhilerating! All together, you can't miss their chemistry....and they are by far the most entertaining band I have ever seen live.
And yes, every show has a most memorable moment....mine came during Painted Horses when Karl brought me up onstage to dance a demented waltz at the beginning of the song. I felt like that chick in Dirty Dancing when she first dances with Patrick Swayze and doesn't know what she's doing and looks like a total ass!! Yeah, that was me! He's so fast and really hard to keep up with and he was just swinging me all over the place....so I just let him. When it was time for him to start singing, I went to get offstage but he threw me up over his shoulders and went on singing!! Yeah, I was totally manhandled...and it was awesome...lol. He went to the barricade and I thought he was going to throw me over and send me crowd surfing but either he couldn't throw me that far or he just wanted to be nice....either way, he put me down gently and I can actually say I took the stage with Karl and didn't even shed a drop of blood...which is more than I can say for his bandmates!!! So thank you Karl for making me part of your show....you made my night once again and I heart you for that!! I heart all of you guys.....ALOT!! But you already know that don't you?

Here are the ones taken during the show...I think from now on I need to hire a camera man to take pictures....because I would rather be rocking out to the music than taking pictures!!! Unfortunately though, I didn't get any of Danny....I just couldn't get a clear shot of him! :-( Sorry babe!!
