What an awesome show this was (yeah, I know, I say that every time)!!! It was at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach which is one of my favorite venues, despite the 2 1/2 hour drive. If you've read about my other concerts then you must know Kristin, my best friend and concert buddy, was with me! Robin (you may know her from the Suicide City concert) and Kristin's friend Matt were also with us . We had "Crash the Barricade" tickets so we were one of the first people inside and got our front spot at the stacked amp on the right side of the stage (which later served as one of Rob Zombies platforms to sing from). The crowd was nowhere near as rough as I thought it would be and there really weren't all that many crowd surfers either, which I am glad for!!!
Bullet for my Valentine opened the show and they did it well. They had a lot of energy and their songs really got you pumped. They have got some hardcore guitar riffs and they really got into the music. Unfortunately I am new to them so I have no idea what songs they played. I had checked them out on myspace before the show and I really liked them. It was enough to get me excited about seeing them....but not enough to know what songs they played!! Anyway, if you haven't heard them yet, you should really check them out. I know I will definitely be buying their CD! We were hoping to meet them after the show, but they were nowhere to be found!! Guess it was a little too cold out for them that night!!
Next came Lacuna Coil, who I have been dying to see for years. It was more of a mellow set than pump-me-up rock set but they sounded phenomenal. Cristina and Andi have amazing chemistry when they are singing together and they really know how to compliment each others vocals. Andi was totally into the show and instantly connected with the fans when he was singing down to the crowd and frequently reaching down to shake hands with alot of them. Cristina had this unbelievable radiance and her vocals were every bit as angelic as on their cd's. Criz is an awesome drummer and definitely puts his heart and energy into playing and he does it flawlessly. Marco (bass), Cris (guitar), and Maus (guitar) equally played with a passion that really comes out in their riffs. The whole band just has great chemistry together and they know how to put on a great show. They actually played quite a few songs and a great mix of old and new. Some of the songs they played were Tight Rope, Heavens a Lie, Swamped, a kick ass cover of Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence, Humane, and the new single, Our Truth (no Daylight Dancer....I could have cried!!). There were a few other songs they played off the new album but I don't know what they are because its not out yet!!! Although from what I have heard, they may be Closer, Fragile, and To The Edge. After the show, we got to meet everyone except Marco (he was out there but he was talking to someone away from the crowd and we didn't want to interupt him). The rest of the band was so nice though!!! We talked to Chris for a while who was very eager to chat about anything despite the fact he was freezing!! We actually talked to Maus, who was equally friendly, for quite a bit too. Andi and Criz stopped by for a few minutes and some pictures. Cristina was out for a while earlier but someone hit my car during the show (my fucking luck!!!) so we had a bit of a delay with the police before getting to make our way to the tour buses. By the time we got there, she was on the bus warming up. But while talking with Chris, we mentioned that we had hoped to meet Cristina and tell her how great she sounded so he went and got her for us. He was so sweet. And so was Cristina!!! So here are our pictures with Lacuna Coil!

And now on to Rob Zombie!! Let me say that this guy is not too old to rock!!! He's got more moves than people half his age!! I couldn't believe the energy he had! He was all over the stage, jumping around and dancing (and boy, can he freaking dance!!!). He does all these crazy leg movements and he really connects with the crowd. He had these stacked amps in front of the stage that he was constantly stepping out onto depsite the fact that everyone kept grabbing at his legs when he did. He didn't have a real theatrical set like he has done in the past but he did have a movie screen in the back (which I couldn't see because of the skull speakers!!!) and lots of stautues. And during More Human Than Human, there was this huge 10 foot robot walking around on stage. I was really excited to see John 5 on guitar (yep, I'm a Manson fan) and he was every bit as crazy as I hoped he would be, making crazy faces and spitting water at everyone. He was really cool to watch. He came out first in a trench coat and skeleton mask so you couldn't see who he was but he unmasked himself in the 2nd song, much to my delight!! And you would have never known he was a new addition to the band as they all played so well together. At one point, Rob Zombie told him he could pick the next song to play and he starting in with the opening notes to Manson's "Sweet Dreams" which was just hilarious. Then he went on to play Poison's "Don't Need Nothin but a Good Time" which again got a lot of laughs and a few others before getting back to the Rob Zombie material. It was nice to see him in the spotlight like that though. Blasko was also awesome to watch. He was always right there making eye contact with the crowd and making crazy demonic faces. He is a great bass player and he knows how to get into the music. I never did see the drummer (that same skull speaker was in my way!! There are some disadvantages to being that close...stage props block your view!) but I hear he was on fire as well and played the hell out of those drums! It sure sounded like he did! They too played a great mix of old and new songs as well as a few White Zombie songs which was awesome! I know they opened with one of their new songs, American Witch, and encored with Dragula and Blood Milk Sky. The others (which may not be a complete list because I never remember that shit!!) in no particular order were Living Dead Girl, More Human than Human, Never Gonna Stop, Let it all Bleed out (another new one), Foxy Foxy (I know this new song is getting a lot of bad reviews but I love it and I thought it sounded even better live), Thunderkiss 65, Super Charger Heaven, Superbeast, Demon Speeding, and House of 1000 Corpses. The whole set kicked ass and Rob Zombie sounded great! And to top of an unbelievably awesome night, we actually got to meet the rock legend and dark lord himself, Rob Zombie. And for the first time in my life, I was actually speechless! The only thing I managed to spit out was that he played a great show!!! And for the rest of the night, everytime we talked about something negative (like my car being hit!!), it ended with a "But its OK, cuz we met Rob Zombie!!!" We also got to meet John 5 for about 2 seconds, in his hooded fur coat...I think he was out there for a while already and was going inside to get out of the cold but he stopped to take a picture with us too. So here's our pics with John 5 and Rob Zombie!!!
