One Year Later

It has been a year since the tragic day of September 11, 2001 and although many of us have continued on with our lives as much as possible, none of us have forgotten the horror bestowed upon the world on that Tuesday morning. It is one year later and the vivid recollections are as fresh in our minds as the day it happened. On that day, it seemed as if our lives would never go back to normal again. Although it still hurts to think about the ones who aren't with us today, we have learned to cope with the pain and endure the difficult healing process. We have learned to keep the spirits of lost loved ones alive by remembering the good times spent with them rather than the future without them.

It is with great sorrow that the world comes together now, on the first anniversary of that day, to honor the heroes lost. No words can capture the pain in everyone's hearts as we reflect back and silently pay our respects to those who died as well as the families and friends they left behind. This is a day for remembrance. It is a day to realize that life is precious and can be taken away so quickly, without warning. It is a day to remember that so many people have died but they did not die in vain nor will they die from our memories. We must hold the memories of those lost close to our hearts so that they may continue to live in our thoughts forever. We must not let these terrorists think they have taken us down. We must not let them think they crushed our spirits, our pride, our patriotism, our loyalty to our country. We must use this time to unite ourselves and stand together. The emotional wounds will probably never heal but they will make us stronger and they will bring people closer in their search for a friend to lean on. To all of those lost on September 11, 2001, you may have been taken from the world too soon, but you will never be forgotten...not now...not ever.
